Prospective Graduate Students

Prospective Graduate Students

We are sorry to announce that we are not accepting applications to the UIC PhD program in philosophy for the 20-21 admissions cycle. This is a one year pause to allow us to devote our resources to supporting current students in the program during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although there will be no incoming class in Fall 2021, we will resume admissions next year for students to start in Fall 2022 and we encourage you to consider applying next year. If you have any questions please contact Daniel Sutherland (sutherla@uic.edu).

We welcome applications from all qualified applicants. These pages are designed to help you decide whether graduate school is for you and if so, whether UIC is a good fit for you – and if so, to help you with the application process. But the first, and perhaps most important, piece of advice is to speak about graduate school early (a year before the deadline is not too soon) and often with someone who works in the field and knows you and your work; most likely, someone at your current institution. Please read through the Philosophy at UICApplying, and Living in Chicago pages, and contact Director of Graduate Admissions Daniel Sutherland or Graduate Program Coordinator Kei Hotoda with any questions or concerns.
