The Hagan Philosophy Library

The James A. Hagan Memorial Library is the Philosophy Department's collection of library books made available to faculty and students to use and borrow. We house a large collection of books and select periodicals of general philosophy. The library features three collections: a general philosophy collection donated by Professor Charles Chastain, a collection of works in feminist philosophy from Professor Sandra Bartky's personal collection, and a collection of math and logic works donated by Professor Emeritus W.D. Hart.

Faculty and graduate students may borrow books by visiting the library and filling out loan cards. Each year, a graduate student serves as the departmental librarian to maintain the collection.  The current Departmental Librarian is Seth Christensen. We are currently in the process of adding more books to our collection and upgrading our database so that users can search for books and check their availability online.
